Leadership Rooted in Purpose: Tyler Holman’s Commitment to Community

Strong communities don’t happen by chance. They’re built by people who choose to show up, year after year. For Tyler Holman, that commitment has grown into a leadership role that helps guide the mission of Rebuilding Together Indianapolis.

Tyler, a Project Executive at North Mechanical, currently serves as President of the Board for Rebuilding Together Indianapolis. His journey with the organization began in 2011, when he first participated in Rebuild Day through his company. 

“Seeing the joy of the homeowner after all the work we did—it was like a trigger,” Tyler shares. “It sparked a true passion to help the communities we’re a part of.”

And that spark grew stronger. Tyler joined the board in 2015, stepping into a leadership role where he could help expand the organization’s impact. Although his career briefly took him outside of Indianapolis, his connection to the mission never wavered. In 2020, he returned to the board with renewed energy, taking on multiple roles before becoming President.

Each year, Tyler sees firsthand how volunteers transform not just homes, but lives. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint, critical safety repairs, or improved accessibility, the work done on Spring Rebuild Day creates lasting change for homeowners who may not otherwise have the resources to make those improvements.

“A lot of these homeowners don’t have the expendable income for necessary repairs,” Tyler explains. “What we’re doing helps them stay in their homes safely for years to come.”

But beyond the physical transformations, it’s the emotional impact that resonates most.

“Seeing the look in a homeowner’s eyes—the gratitude, the relief—that’s what sticks with you,” he says. “It re-invigorates that passion every single year.”

As a leader, Tyler hopes new volunteers experience that same moment—the one that turns curiosity into purpose.

“I hope they would feel the same that I did,” he says, “seeing for the first time the work we are doing for the community.”

Through leaders like Tyler Holman, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis continues to strengthen neighborhoods and empower homeowners. His story is a reminder that when passion meets purpose, the impact can extend far beyond a single day. It can shape a lifetime of service.
