More than 100 Indiana Union Construction Industry Skilled Volunteers will spend Saturday, April 21st donating their skilled trade services during “Union Build Day” as they prep homes for Rebuilding Together Indianapolis’ upcoming neighborhood revitalization in the SEND-Twin Aire Neighborhood. Volunteers will gather at Emmaus Lutheran Church,
1224 Laurel Street, Indianapolis at 7:00 am for work assignments before heading to the houses.
Tradesmen including Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians and Roofers will complete the skilled trade work necessary to prepare the homes for the large group of corporate volunteers scheduled to join the effort during Rebuilding Together Indianapolis “Spring Rebuilding Day”, a one day work blitz scheduled for Saturday, April 28th. At that time, ten homeowners in a local Marion County neighborhood will receive gifts of free home repairs thanks to more than 225 corporate volunteers working with Rebuilding Together Indianapolis.
Union Build Day improvements will be made in the neighborhood bordered by Prospect St to the north, Sherman Dr to the East, Apple St to the South, and Vandeman St to the West. Each dollar raised by Rebuilding Together Indianapolis returns $4 to the community in the form of in-kind donations of materials and time. This year, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis raised more than $125,000 in cash contributions, which will result in more than $500,000 of investment in the homes and neighborhood. The increased investment is the direct result of the skilled trade volunteer work completed on Union Build Day.
“We are grateful for the partnership of the Indiana Union Construction Industry,” said Bill Davis, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Indianapolis. “The donated expertise of these skilled trade partners allows us to ensure our neighborhood revitalization effort is successful,” said Davis. “Their time and talents are critical to our success.”
“We are honored to once again be a part of the Rebuilding Together Indianapolis program,” said John Griffin, President of the Central Indiana Building Trades. “Our skilled tradesmen are proud to contribute their time and talent to help improve the lives of our neighbors in the Twin-Aire Neighborhood.”
