2023 Fix This House Comedy Show Recap
Rebuilding Together Indianapolis (RTI) proudly hosted our annual “Fix This House Comedy Show,” a sponsorship celebration and fundraising event on June 27th. All proceeds from the silent auction go toward supporting the mission of Rebuilding Together Indianapolis.
The pandemic inspired us to create a comedy show to re-engage our supporters while returning to in-person events. The new lifestyle changes brought on by the pandemic presented a unique opportunity to engage individuals at all levels of engagement and connectivity. The Comedy show allows everyone to come together and support the mission of RTI.
The Comedy Show also offers a welcoming environment to connect with other small businesses and business owners that support RTI while enjoying a lineup of local standup comedian acts, food, drinks, and the chance to win fantastic raffle prizes. The style of the event grants a new and unique way to bring people together, to participate in something fun and different while raising awareness and money for a great cause.
In the first year, RTI raised roughly $1,500 and nearly doubled that total by the second year. In perspective, that amount of money can be equivalent to repairing one (1) home on Spring Rebuild Day. The repairs may include carpentry, electrical work, painting, landscaping, etc.
RTI would like to thank the White Rabbit Cabaret venue in Fountain Square on the Southeast side of Indianapolis for hosting the Comedy Show for the last three (3) years. The community surrounding the White Rabbit is the original community that Rebuilding Together Indianapolis initially served in its early years. We look forward to watching this partnership grow in future years!
Most of the Comedy Show sponsors are local businesses and business owners in the local community. Because of the success of this event, the show has retained roughly 90% of its sponsors and attracted new sponsors in recent years, including companies like Angels Envy and Indy Reads.

The organization looks to increase participation and engagement from the community in next year’s Comedy Show. A dream of RTI would be to raise enough awareness to have a sold-out show. There may be an opportunity to host two shows in one night. The visibility of this event has significantly increased our reach to the communities we serve.
