Rebuilding Together Indianapolis started the new year with a visit from Caroline Blakely, president and CEO of the national Rebuilding Together organization, and Becky Carter, regional director of the Rebuilding Together Central Region, followed by a sponsorship appreciation event with several special guests on Jan. 18.
“Over the past 20 years, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis has played a critical role in ensuring over 400 of its neighbors have a safe place to call home," said Caroline Blakely, president and chief executive officer of the national Rebuilding Together organization. "During my recent visit, I was invigorated by the board of directors' strategy and vision and look forward to their increased impact as they work towards ensuring every person in Indianapolis lives in a safe home and community.”

Blakely was among several individuals who provided remarks at the event. Other speakers included Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett; Marlin Jackson, founder and president, Fight for Life Foundation, co-founder and partner, Revive Property Group LLC, and former Indianapolis Colt; Ken Cook, architectural consultant, Allegion; Brenda McAtee, president, Norwood Neighborhood Association and Twin Aire Neighborhood Coalition chair; Paul Smith, president, Southeast Neighborhood Development; Jayson Watt, quality manager, Pepper Construction, and board president, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis; David Werking, business development manager, ERMCO, and sponsorship chair / past board president, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis; Bill Davis, executive director, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis; Denny Stephens, associate executive director, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis.

“We’re always trying to find new and creative ways to provide for the betterment of our city,” said Mayor Hogsett at the event. “It’s organizations like this that I’m convinced will lead Indy to an even better place.”
“The experience of working with the volunteers was heart-filling,” McAtee said during her remarks. “We got to be family. They cared about what they were doing and what was happening.”
Rebuilding Together Indianapolis worked in the Twin Aire neighborhood last year and is back again this year for our Spring Rebuilding Day on April 27, preceded by Union Build Day on April 20.
“We look forward to another year of working with leaders in the community and assisting our neighbors in need,” said Watt. “We’re thankful for the support of our sponsors and volunteers and our partnership with the central Indiana building trades—we couldn’t do it without them.”
The sponsor event raises awareness for Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, generating funds that will be used to support the organization’s mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives.
