Each year for the past 10 years the Indianapolis Colts have built playgrounds around the Greater Indianapolis area, all of which have been constructed in underserved areas of the city. In 2011 the Colts added Rebuilding Together Indianapolis as a partner to increase the impact of the project by improving the space with landscaping, painting, and other beautification elements.

This year, a new playground was built at Jonathan Jennings School # 109. Rebuilding Together Indianapolis’ contribution to the project included: directing over 100 volunteers in reconstructing benches and a blackboard for an outdoor classroom, trimming, weeding and mulching around school property, repainting of games on the school blacktop, reconstructing long jump pit, painting basketball goals, staining all outdoor benches and flower boxes, and painting and installing a coffee cabinet and counter in the teacher’s lounge.

In addition to the Playground build and school grounds enhancements, the Colts also volunteered to install a quarter mile asphalt track at the school, that will be used by the school’s track team and local community residents as a walking track.

Thank you to all that helped us make a difference during this year’s Colts Project Playground Rebuild! We are looking forward to making an impact again in 2018!
