Rebuilding Together Indianapolis and Fifth Third Bank Join Forces To Help A Hoosier Veteran
As we celebrate Veterans Day across this great nation, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis took a moment to utilize our time and talents to help a veteran right here at home in Indianapolis. On Friday, November 6th, our friends at Fifth Third Bank joined forces with us to create a team to rehabilitate the home of a Hoosier veteran, Tyrone. Tyone is an Indianapolis native who served 10 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He completed deployments in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars before being forced to retire due to his injuries.
Tyrone's home required several significant updates, including a new heating and cooling system, redisign of an outdated kitchen and painting and floor repairs. More than 25 Fifth Third volunteers and Rebuilding Together Indanapolis joined together to paint the interior and exterior of the home, landscape the overgrown lawn, construct a new utility shed and make the home safe and sustainable for Tyrone and his daughter.
"I was really nervous about so may people being in my home," said Tyrone. "But my house was filled with laughter like it has never been before."
We wanted to share the story of this special project as we celebrate the many men and women who served our country. When we look out for one another, we build stronger neighborhoods and communities.
You will soon receive an invitation from Rebuilding Together Indianapolis to a networking event to be held in January. Please join us and learn more about our organization and how we might work together to improve the neighborhoods serving our community.
Thank you for your continued support. Please take a moment today to thank a veteran like Tyrone for their service!
